Aspiring online entrepreneurs are encouraged to participate in the digital economy and register their businesses with the Malaysian Companies Commission (SSM).
However, the Minister of International Trade and E-Commerce, Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh, noted that Sarawakan entrepreneurs who intend to register their business with SSM must have a registered address in Peninsular Malaysia.
âMy ministry recognizes that many of our small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) do not have a registered address in Peninsular Malaysia. Thus, my ministry and the Ministry of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship have created a special program to allow such registration.
âUnder this program, a special arrangement with SSM and a designated agent has been made to facilitate registration where a special window for online business registration is set up at SSM Sarawak,â Wong said in his ministerial closing address to the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting today.
He revealed that currently, over 200 entrepreneurs have registered their businesses online through this program.
Meanwhile, Wong revealed that in the second half of this year, his ministry will coordinate and organize the participation of entrepreneurs in seven trade fairs.
“My ministry has disseminated the details of the trade shows to relevant trade associations to nominate their members to participate, and we are encouraging more new local businesses ready to export to participate and seek international market opportunities,” said Wong.
Among the fairs mentioned by Wong were the Food and Hotel Myanmar 2019 in Yangon (June 5 to June 7), Food Taipei 2019 in Taiwan (June 19 to June 22), the Pacific International Maritime Exposition (Pacific 2019) which takes place. will hold the October 8-10 and the Second China International Import Expo (CIIE) which will be held November 5-10 in Shanghai.
Other fairs mentioned are ANUGA 2019 (October 5 to 9) in Germany, the Malaysia International Food and Beverage Trade Fair (MIFB 2019) in Kuala Lumpur from June 26 to 28 as well as the Malaysia International Beverage Trade Network Fair 2019 (IBTN) from October 31 to November 2 in Kuala Lumpur.
