Manila, Philippines – More than 3.2 billion pesos in cash assistance has been distributed to individuals and families affected by the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) enforced in Metro Manila, the Home and Human Services Department said. Local governments (DILG).

In his report to President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday evening, Home Secretary Eduardo Año said a total of 3,299,290 people have received government cash assistance since local government units (LGUs) began to hand in the grant on August 11.

The distribution of financial assistance is based on the provisions of Joint Circular No.3 of the Ministry of the Interior and Local Governments (DILG), the Ministry of Social Protection and Development (DSWD) and LGUs of the National Capital Region (NCR).

Año said the release of the grant was underway, assuring the president that the names of grantees and grantees were posted at LGU offices, official websites and social media platforms to ensure transparency.

“At that time, you have to watch (supervise) and monitor the DILG, DSWD and DND and the distribution of the LGU ng NCR and the mayor of the city of Nasabing LGU are in the game,” he said.

Duterte on Monday approved the release of aid of 10.894 billion pesos for the NCR and the supplementary budget of 368 million pesos, bringing the total amount of government assistance to 11.256 billion pesos.

Besides residents of Metro Manila, Año said qualified beneficiaries in Bataan and Laguna should also receive similar support after the president approves grants for the two provinces.

Bataan will get 700 million pesos while Laguna will get 2.7 billion pesos, Año said.

“During the week we received a lot of help and sisiguraduhin with which we took advantage of abuse or love,” he added.
