The Jordan Ireland Business Association (JIBA) was officially launched under the high patronage of the Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Dr Tariq Hammouri, at a reception held at the Hotel St Régis, in Amman, Wednesday September 11, 2019.
The launch of JIBA, following the opening of Ireland’s first embassy in Jordan in January this year, demonstrates the strong interests of the Jordanian and Irish governments in rapidly strengthening trade relations between the two countries. That is, the launch of JIBA is a huge and important step in this regard, according to a statement from JIBA.
Over the next few years, JIBA will work with the governments of Jordan and Ireland, as well as the business community of both countries, to forge new business relationships, the statement added.
With this goal in mind, JIBA will convene bimonthly meetings of representatives of Irish and Jordanian companies. And will also organize visits of Jordanian trade delegations to Ireland and Ireland to Jordan to facilitate the establishment of business-to-business relationships in key sectors, which will benefit both countries, the statement said.
âThis is an extremely important day for Ireland and for Jordan. By working with the Irish Embassy and Irish government state agencies such as Enterprise Ireland and An Bord Bia, JIBA can have an extremely positive impact not only on Jordanian businesses but on the lives of Jordanian citizens. In his remarks at the launch, Irish Ambassador and JIBA Co-Chair Dr. Vincent O’Neill.

âOver the past 16 years, as Irish Honorary Consul in Jordan, I have witnessed the development of many business partnerships between our two countries. With the establishment of JIBA, we can build on this progress and identify many new opportunities to advance our business relationship and deepen the excellent ties between our two countries. Jordanian businessman and JIBA co-chair Ramsey Khourey, said at the event.
